newest news :)

hello all :)

my doctor just called me, and they have decided to back off of this whole bone marrow thing.  the PET scan didn't really reveal anything "new" about my marrow.  it still looks different, but not exactly consistent with cancer.  the PET scan did show some "activity" in the lymph nodes in my chest, but my doctor doesn't think that it's cancer there, either...  the only way they can figure it all out for sure is to do biopsies, but those are apparently pretty invasive, and dr. charleson doesn't think it's necessary.  he says his worry is nearly 0 at this point.  it's all abnormal, but they've decided to stop worrying about it.  and they said that i should, too.  my surgery is tentatively rescheduled for July 15th.  my surgeon is going on vacation tomorrow, so i have to wait for her to get back.

so, i am apparently going to be froedtert free for the next couple of weeks... weird.  not sure what to think about that.  i was told that i should use the next couple of weeks to enjoy summer and play with my girls.  so i guess that's what i'll do.  i asked if my cancer would start to grow back since i'm not having any treatment right now, and he says it won't.  so i have to believe he knows what he's talking about.

all in all, i think this is good news.  basically, my surgery was put off for no reason, and i get a couple weeks of extra playtime that i wasn't expecting.  so, we'll look at it as a positive :)

Yes it is positive. And it is also positive that your doctors are all so super careful. Now you can have some fun instead of spending your whole summer recuperating!!

Sorry about the delay, Mer, but I hope you have a great time playing with your girls over the next couple of weeks! Do they like fireworks? Maybe you can get in some good Fourth of July time with them.
If you need extra munchkin-watchers when your new surgery date comes around, let me know; I could take a day or two off and come to visit if you want me. In the meantime, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can actually get some energy back and feel well for a couple of weeks. :)

Glad to hear that things are looking up. I still hate dealing with the unknown, but as you said, you find the bright side. Enjoy the time with the girls!

Delays just mean more opportunities, right? As Michelle said, now we'll have some extra quality play dates before surgery! Glad the doctors aren't concerned! See you soon!

you couldn't actually think anything about you would be normal could you? :) I think this is a blessing- and not even really disguised. A few more weeks of summer lovin and summer fun and summer huggin can't be bad at all. Your friends and family will be there to kid watch and support you when this all goes down surgically for real- until then I vote that you rejoice in the extra time to get emotionally and physically strong and get in a ton of snuggles and hugs and then head off to the land of crazy surgery boobies. All will be well- you are doing everything awesome keep it up
