i'm home sick today. ugh. this round has hit me a bit harder than the other 2. yesterday was pretty bad. i'm not sure about today. i've been trying not to move too much. kj and the girls are at my sister's doing the mother's day thing with my family so that i can have the couch without guilt. i'm sitting and watching whatever tv i want and i don't have to feel bad about it. not the worst mother's day, i suppose. except i feel like crap.
after my sister's kj's taking the girls over to my dad and jill's to spend the night so that i can sleep tomorrow- they'll take them to school for me. thank goodness for that! one more day to recover before going back to work on tuesday.
i got some gorgeous flowers from my hubby and girls :) and kj got me a massage! symma made me butterfly wind chime at school- so cute! and kj made me breakfast in bed before he told the kids i was awake, so i got to eat it w/o them climbing all over me. he's a good man, i tell you :)
this morning i gave izzy a bath, and she was playing with her little ernie squirter. she was feeding him and hugging him, and i asked if it was her baby, and she answered me... it took me a few times before i realized it, but she was totally saying "baby" back at me. soooo cute! up till now she's only said "mama" and "dada", with the occasional "cracker" or "cookie" tossed in. but today she's said "baby" a whole buncha times :) pretty soon she's going to explode into sentences, and i'm not going to notice the new words anymore... so i'm enjoying this one today :)
last night kj promised me that when i'm better we'll go somewhere. so, now's the time to start planning :) where should we go? where have you all been that you would suggest? i'm definitely leaning toward somewhere sunny- i'll have to show off my new assets :) it will need to be fairly reasonable, and hopefully romantic. i'm guessing we won't go till next summer, so i'll have time to set up a savings plan. plus, i think we really want to take the girls to disney over spring break next year. symma's been wanting to go for a while now, and i think she'll deserve it after this year :) so, let's hear the suggestions people!! we've only been on one real vacation together- to hawaii on our honeymoon- which will be 10 years ago next summer. crazy! so, it'll be our 10 year anniversary/no more cancer trip... it has to be good :)
happy mother's day to all of you that have mother'ed me :) especially lately- my friends as well as my mom, and jill :) love you all!!

Happy Mother's day! I'm sorry you're feeling so crummy. When I saw the pics of you holding Izzy - I swear those were the jammies you were wearing in the hospital when Jenna and I came to visit you and meet Izzy!
suggestions: seattle, san fran, tahoe, nyc, boston, dc.
OR, if you time it right, you could go to Indianapolis for training camp . . . maybe not so romantic, though. :)
Sunny CA is the place to be ... San Fran is romantic, but mostly overcast and cool most days. Maybe Carmel or San Diego? Both are romantic, beautiful, ocean-filled and mostly sunny!
The pics of Izzy in the bath are adorable! Hope you are feeling better today.
michelle- they are the same- warm and cozy comfy :)
thanks for the ideas, guys :) keep them coming :)
San Fran and San Diego are definitely good choices. I enjoyed my time in both locations. Savannah was lovely, New Orleans was great, and I hear Charleston has some great beaches. You could also do Vegas! What's more romantic than renewing your wedding vows with Elvis officiating! Ha ha ha! But, seriously there's a lot more to Vegas than gambling. My sis can get you details since she lives out there now.
i'm thinking warm beaches... sand, snorkling, turtles, birds... though we've done that, so maybe i should try to branch out to something we haven't done. maybe glacier nat'l park... i hear that's beautiful? hmmm...
Happy Belated Mother's Day. Sorry to hear you are not feeling good. Sedona, Arizona is super romantic. Of course, that would be on the pricey side. Cabo San Lucas is an excellent/ romantic destination. It's easy to get around and definitely many chances for beach and relaxation. Puerto Rico is also a good option if you don't want to do the passport thing. Of course you are welcome to come and visit us in DC. See the sights. Beach is not more than an hour drive/ Annapolis is very cool. Visiting us would be inexpensive (stay for free). You could spend more on each other. :)
Anywhere that has a beach would be great I am sure. Maybe Murtle Beach in N. Carolina. I heard that's a very nice getaway. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well - I am sure once all the Chemo is over and you are in remission things will get much better. Soon you will have summer vacation to enjoy I hope for the most part. Happy Mother's Day. YOu are an inspiration to your children. Hang in there. Thinking of you! Cheryl Staley
Pictures are adorable by the way...

I vote San Diego- Ryan and I have been 3 times now (only for very short trips) and we fall in love with it a little more each time. It is warm and sunny and lovely. It is fairly affordable. There is TONS to do. Kayaking, surfing, climbing cliffs, exploring tide pools and more- and that is just the beach stuff. Old town and Coronado Island, trolley tours and balboa park, shopping and concerts. It has become our top reasonably priced and reasonable vacation destination- I have tons of scoop if you are interested
ooooh mikaely you make that sound really nice!!
